Sad but true: I was employed as a sex editor for a major publication for several months before I learned of the alternate meaning of the phrase “pearl necklace”. Now, this knowledge so confounds me that I cannot look at any true pearls without feeling slightly scandalous.

Despite this issue (or perhaps because of it???) I find myself ever-more intrigued by pearls, but dismayed at the often inhibition-enhancing price tag. Before readying for that splurge (or talking yourself out of something you really want) remember bargains are to be had though, even in opulent circles, if you know where to look for it.

Check out Angelina Jolie in an ad for luxury apparel brand St. Johns, wearing 7.5-8.0mm Classic Akoya Stud Earrings.

You may be of the (well, fantasy) opinion that dressing/acting like Angelina will make you magically wake up with her life. Before you know it, you'll be sharing a bed with Brad Pitt, be breathtakingly gorgeous, and have legions of humans (male and female alike) dreaming about being you for one moment.

As you realize this fantasy is just that, you may decide to throw a shot in the dark and at the very least own the pearls she's wearing in this ad. (They are cute!)

AkoyaEar-XI.jpgWell, they are available at Mikimoto America  for $780 - which for many of us non-Angelinas, is just about what we spend in a month on rent. However, any true bargainista knows some web searching and patient perseverance will lead to finding a better - (dare I say?) saner - deal. Check this out: The same exact pearl earrings exist at PurePearls.com for $210.00!

Note that coupons exist throughout the Internet for this site, leaving you with the possibility of extra discounts, such as free shipping or an additional percentage off. Always do your research and Google  a web-shop before making an order - you may be a promotional code away for even deeper discounts!
